Hey Reader, Today's email is for my highly sensitive friends. Honorary members include introverts, empaths, intuitives, and anyone who struggles to keep up with the high-energy extrovert pace of life. Discovering I was a Highly Sensitive Person completely altered the trajectory of my life. It was the first time I felt a spark of hope that maybe I could find a way to operate in the world that didn't hurt. I'm still learning about what it means to be sensitive, particularly as a business owner with big dreams. My biggest lifeline on this bumpy journey is my connection to other sensitive people. I was lucky to meet April Snow in a business mastermind waaay back in 2017. (That's like two lifetimes ago in online business years.) April has dedicated her career to championing HSPs, and her wisdom has been my light in the dark more times than I can count. You can imagine my delight when she invited me to be a guest on her new podcast, Sensitive Stories. In this episode, April and I talk about how to protect yourself from burnout by unhooking from expectations and finding new ways to be of service to yourself. We also explored: 👉 Grieving the life you imagined you would have before discovering that you’re highly sensitive 👉 Setting boundaries around giving and receiving empathy 👉 Tending to yourself first by asking the questions, “Have I been invited?” and “Do I have the energy to offer support?” 👉 Finding new ways of being of service to yourself and unhooking from overgiving and overfunctioning 👉 Shifting the rules of how you work at the first sign of burnout 👉 Integrating the personal and professional parts of yourself to find more balance and healing True to form, we covered a lot of ground and shared many personal stories in this conversation. I hope it brings you peace, comfort, and at least one "ah-ha" moment!
I hope you have a gentle and restorative weekend. Talk soon, |
